Netherton is famously linked with the Titanic, as workers at Noah Hingley and Sons forged its 16-ton anchor. It was drawn through the streets of the town by shire horses to Dudley's railway stations on its journey to the Belfast shipyard. A replica of this impressive feat of engineering now takes pride of place in the town centre. Netherton has undergone a regeneration in recent years with celebrations and festivals held in and around Netherton Arts Centre and Netherton Park.
