RG dig deep to claim cup – now for the title

RG FC have more glory in their sights having completed part one of their two-pronged push for silverware.

The Division Three title-chasers clinched victory in a dramatic BP Roberts Cup final with ECC Sports at Wolverhampton Casuals FC, writes Nick Elwell.

Sports looked set to be claim the spoils against their divisional rivals after goals from Jamie Morris and Clayton Peddie gave them a 2-0 half-time lead.

But RG rallied in the second half with two unanswered goals from Chad Davis and Max Walker-Wiltshire to take the game to extra-time.

The match looked to be heading for a nerve-wracking penalty shootout, but with just a minute remaining Ashley Brown popped up to bag the winner for RG.

Further success is on the cards for RG, who need one win from their last two league games to clinch the title and double.

There was just one clash in the Premier Division and that saw Frying Pan Darlaston and Emerald Athletic battle out a 1-1 draw.

Royal FC rounded off an impressive Division One campaign on a high.

Having already sealed the runners-up spot behind TK Wanderers, they signed off with a hard-fought win at home to Bradmore.

Trailing 1-0 at the break, Royal hit back to triumph 2-1 thanks to goals from Lewis Roberts and Ryan Tinsley, with the winner coming in the 90th minute.

Belgrade have taken a huge step towards clinching the Division Two title. They pulled off a key 2-1 success away to Azaad Sports to climb into top spot.

Strikes from Antoine Julien and Andrew Turvey cancelled out an effort from Azaad’s Kieron Jones to secure victory.

Belgrade are now ahead of Barley Mow Wanderers on goal difference, but boast two games in hand.

Golden Lion pulled clear of the bottom three with a 2-1 win over AFC Bradmore.

Castlecroft kept their Division Three title hopes alive with a comfortable victory against Tettenhall.

Darrell Gillett and Daryl Westwood both scored twice as Castlecroft ran out 5-2 winners. Jay Swingle added their other goal.

The win moves Castlecroft up to second, two points behind RG FC who also have a game in hand.

Kearan Noorani, Jon Davies and Craig smith found the net to earn Hill Top Rangers a 3-2 home win over Dudley United.

Summerhill are fifth after beating bottom-of-the-table Ashmore 2-1.

Three Cups continued their charge towards glory in Division Four by hitting a magnificent seven in their latest outing.

Jacks Bar were on the receiving end as the table-toppers hit top form. Jay Potts led the way with a double blast, with Ben Moore, Connor Potts Reece Potts, Dan Zurich and Scot Parker also finding the net.

Cup are now sitting pretty, five points clear of second-placed Black Country Fusion and having played two games fewer.

Fusion were edged out 3-2 by AE Noahs Ark. Alex Bendall and Larry Adeanju scored for Fusion.

GSA Wolverhampton and Saint Michael played out an entertaining 3-3 draw.

Manie Singh, Tyrel James and Devante Shearer scored for GSA with Kuba Wieczorek (two) and Przeluek Gorka replying for the visitors.

n The cup finals continue to come thick and fast, with another shootout for silverware tomorrow night.
