Tesco Express in Stone Road, in Stafford, was raided shortly after it closed at 11pm on Wednesday, October 4.

Staffordshire Police said two masked men carrying large knives forced three female workers who were leaving, back into the shop, before stealing cash, a large amount of cigarettes and one of the victim's cars.

Four people were initially arrested in connection with the incident and now two of them have been charged.

Gavin Milgate, aged 34, of no fixed address and Scott Stretton, also 34, of Young Avenue, Stafford, have both been charged with robbery, possession of an offensive weapon in a public place, theft of a motor vehicle and using a motor vehicle without third party insurance.

Both have already appeared before magistrates and their cases were sent to Stafford Crown Court where they will attend at a later date.

The two other suspects, aged 32 and 36, who are both from Stafford, have been released under investigation.
