M6 Southbound closed after crash

A stretch of the M6 is closed following a crash involving multiple cars.

Earlier this evening, Highways England reported that lanes one, two, three and four were closed southbound near Penkridge between Junction 13 in Stafford and Junction 12 in Gailey.

The incident happened at about 6.15pm on Monday, July 20.

Delays were reported and Highways England advised drivers to find alternative routes.

Staffordshire Fire and Rescue reported two people were extricated from an overturned car and were being checked over by responders from West Midlands Ambulance Service.

Rescue crews left the scene at about 8.10pm and vehicles were recovered from the scene.

It is not yet known if anyone has been injured.
