Woman seriously hurt in hit-and-run in Oldbury

A pedestrian was taken to hospital with serious injuries after a hit-and-run in Oldbury.

Paramedics were called to New Henry Street just before 8pm last night to the crash where they found the female pedestrian.

The driver had fled from the scene and the woman was taken to Queen Elizabeth Hospital.

Jordan Eggington, spokeswoman for West Midlands Ambulance Service, said: "We were called at 7.59pm last night to reports of a collision involving a car and pedestrian on New Henry Street in Oldbury.

"We sent one ambulance and a paramedic officer to the scene. On arrival crews found one patient, a woman, who was the pedestrian.

"She was treated for serious injuries before being conveyed on blue lights and sirens to Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham for further treatment.”

A spokesman for West Midlands Police said: "A woman was hit by a car which fled the scene. She was taken to hospital where her injuries are serious, but not life threatening or life changing. Enquiries are ongoing."
