Chardonnay 2019 from Halfpenny Green Wine Estate, near Bobbington, was recognised in the Decanter World Wine Awards, which celebrated its 20th anniversary this year.

The awards are recognised as the largest and most influential in the world, due to the rigorous judging process. Wines are judged by 236 specialist judges from 30 countries

Judges noted that the Halfpenny Green wine had "toasty oak character with slight buttery notes. Soft and generous on the palate with a moderate complex finish."

The winery at Tom Lane also received a bronze medal for its Classic Cuvee Brut sparkling wine.
