Walsall's Liam Roberts switches loan sides
Walsall goalkeeper Liam Roberts has joined non-league side Rainworth Miners Welfare on loan.
The Saddlers third-choice custodian had been borrowed by Rushall Olympic but has been recalled early and immediately sent out to Rainworth.
Roberts, 19, is hoping to play regular first-team football during his spell at Kirklington Road.
"Training has been going really well here," he said. "I feel sharp and as though I am improving with every session.
"The only thing missing is having a game at the end of it, that will be the next step for me. Hopefully, this move will allow me to do that because I need a consistent run of games now.
"I've played at this level before, so I know that it's competitive. I'm joining a team that has struggled so far this season and my aim is to help them improve.
"I know that the gaffer will be keeping tabs on me, so I just want to be able to show him what I am capable of."
Roberts will be hoping to make his debut tonight in the Evo-Stik Northern League Division One South clash at Brigg Town.
