Bully: Wolves can nick something on this special occasion

I am feeling both excited and nervous going into tonight’s huge game at Molineux.

Liverpool have been playing some brilliant football as of late, and they really are a top-class team.

They are top of the league at the moment – and the race between them and Manchester City for the title will go down to the wire.

But if we can pick up a point against City, Man United and Arsenal, and beat Chelsea, we can get something from this clash with the Reds.

These are the type of games you just cannot wait to get out there and play.

It is going to be packed out, on a Friday night under the lights.

These are the occasions you dream about, what makes you want to become a professional footballer in the first place.

And if Wolves were to win, or even pick up a point against Jurgen Klopp’s pace-setters, it would be remembered fondly for a long time – a wonderful early Christmas present.

Even though Diogo Jota can’t play, after he limped off clutching his hamstring against Bournemouth last weekend, I would like to see Wolves go for the 3-4-1-2 system that served them so well against Chelsea.

Morgan Gibbs-White has got a great engine on him, and never shows any fear, so it would be nice to see him in the free role again.

He really has taken to that role like a duck to water.

He’ll be excited about potentially showing what he is all about against the league leaders.

But looking forward to it the most will be Conor Coady.

A Liverpool lad through and through, his work-rate and quality now typify this Wolves team – and he’ll be eager to show the Reds just how far he has come since leaving them.

Going into it, we have won three on the spin.

We may not have quite been at our best against Bournemouth last weekend, but we got the job done.

The last three games have the set the bar for Nuno – a standard to carry week in and week out, over the Christmas period and into the new year.

I was an armchair Liverpool supporter growing up through the 70s and 80s when they had the likes of John Toshack, Kenny Dalglish and Kevin Keegan.

I only ever played against them in a reserve game. I would have loved to have played against them in a great atmosphere like there will be tonight, so I’m sure the players who go out there will relish the opportunity.

I have always had a soft spot for Liverpool.

They are a fantastic club, with some superb players once again such as Mo Salah, Sadio Mane and Virgil van Dijk, but there is only one team I’m supporting tonight. Come on Wolves!
