‘Flash’ has netted 12 goals this season – with three in his last four games – to make him Walsall’s leading goalscorer this campaign.

After going 15 games without a goal at the beginning of the season, the 25-year-old says the ‘snowball effect’ has taken hold.

“People were questioning at the start of the season where the goals would come from,” he said.

“I’ve always said if I keep doing my hard work then the goals would come.

“When they come, it’s like a snowball effect.

“I’m proving to other people and to myself as well that I’m capable of getting a lot of goals.”

Gordon has two goals more than fellow striker Caolan Lavery and while he has a target in mind that he wants to reach this season, he says he isn’t ready to reveal it.

“Yeah (I do have a target), but I’ll keep it to myself,” Gordon added.

Forward Elijah Adebayo has started the last two fixtures, putting in excellent displays, and Gordon wants to see him replicate that level of performance on a regular basis.

“He’s doing well and that’s all we want from him, consistency,” he said.

“If he can keep doing that – he’s showing what he’s capable of. Adding goals as well, we have a good strike force with me, him and Lavs (Caolan Lavery).

“There’s good rotation and we’re getting the goals.

“He’s very strong, he can get the ball to his feet and he’s good at rolling players.

“When the ball does come towards his feet you know you can just get into the box.

“It just naturally works with either partnership, we’re all quite similar really.”
