Kane Wilson has become Walsall’s second signing of the day – with the defender following Jack Fitzwater in agreeing a season long loan from Albion.

The right-back made his competitive debut for the Baggies at just 16-years-old and spent last season on loan at Exeter, helping them reach the League Two play-off final.

The 18-year-old will now give Nicky Devlin strong competition for the right-back berth.

“Kane is someone who has a massive future ahead of him,” said Walsall boss Dean Keates.

“He had a great loan spell at Exeter last season and this is the next part of his progression.

“He’s a powerful lad, a great athlete who will get up and down. He will add competition in the full-back slots as he can play right-back or left-back.

“He’s good going forward and another great acquisition for our squad.”

An England youth international, Wilson joined West Brom at the age of seven and made his senior bow in an EFL Cup first-round tie at Northampton in August 2016.

He was loaned to Exeter last summer and had his St James’ Park stay extended in January, having impressed during the first half of the season.

Wilson made 22 appearances for the Grecians in total and won their Goal of the Month award for December.

Despite the arrivals of Fitzwater and Wilson, the Express & Star understands Walsall’s business for day isn’t done – with one more signing still possible.
