On the half hour mark, Chasetown had a strong penalty appeal turned down after Danny Cocks seemingly received a push in the back.

The hosts almost levelled when Jack Langston’s drive beat the keeper but was cleared off the line by Jake Dunwoody.

Five minutes before half time, Stoke broke immediately though and Ryan Hill’s deflected effort beat Pond.

City extended their lead four minutes into the second half. A Chasetown attack broke down in midfield and the visitors broke quickly and Shola Ayoola headed home a cross from Tre Pemberton.

Chasetown stayed positive and looked to try and get a consolation goal but a Langston effort from a Will Wheldon free kick was the nearest they came.

Pond was the busier keeper and saved well late on from Krisztofer Szereto.
