Dressed in their Hull tops and shorts, three members of the club's staff were behind an emergency services cordon after a two-car crash on the M6, northbound near Junction 7 for Great Barr.

The staff were hurriedly packing water bottles and cool boxes into the back of a black van at around 12pm today, just three hours before kick-off.

Ambulances, police and highways officers were on the scene, but nobody is thought to have been injured.

It's unclear to what extent the Hull City staff were involved in the crash.

Lane four was closed throughout the incident, which caused around 30 minutes of delays for commuters.

A spokeswoman for West Midlands Police said: "It was a damage-only collision with no injuries.

"We left it with Highways."
