Queues on the M6 southbound near Stafford

There were delays on the M6 both northbound and southbound after incidents.

Southbound drivers faced delays between junction 10, for Wolverhampton and Walsall, and junction eight, for the M5, due to a broken down car near the latter junction.

Highways England moved the car to the hard shoulder but it originally shut the outside lane, leading to the tailbacks to junction 10.

Southbound drivers also faced delays further north after a crash.

The crash, which closed a lane, is causing eight miles of slow traffic, starting at junction 13 for Stafford.

The crash happened between junction 14, also for Stafford, and 13.

Finally northbound drivers also faced misery after traffic was halted completely following a crash.

Drivers around junction 13, for Stafford, were stopped by Highways officers who completely closed the motorway to help emergency services.
