Pensioner killed in Christmas Eve crash

A pensioner was killed in a horror crash on Christmas Eve, police have revealed as they launched an appeal for witnesses.

A man in his 80s died in the collision, which happened on the A456 Bewdley Bypass at around 10am and involved two cars.

Meanwhile a man in his 20s suffered a broken leg and a woman in her 50s was taken to hospital for bruising.

The pensioner, who was from Cheltenham, was taken to hospital but was later pronounced dead.

Officers from West Mercia Police want to speak to anyone who saw the crash, which involved a silver Honda Civic, registration number ending DMA, and a Grey Volkswagen Golf, registration number ending XBZ.

Pc Emma Breay said: "On Christmas Eve there was a serious road traffic collision on the A456 Bewdley Bypass, three people were taken to hospital and sadly a man in his 80s was pronounced dead later that day in the hospital.

"We would like to appeal to anyone who may been in the area at the time and witness the collision, or has dash-cam footage of the collision."

Anyone with information is asked to call West Mercia Police on 101, quoting incident 185s of December 24.
