Motorists faced disruption after a car fire forced the closure of a route into Wolverhampton.

The A449 into Wolverhampton is closed due to a car fire

The A449 was shut southbound due to the blaze on Friday morning.

It happened on the stretch of road between the A5 at Gailey and the M54.

Officers from Staffordshire Police were working with Staffordshire fire crews at the scene.

Highways England officials issued a warning online to alert motorists.

It reopened shortly before 11am.
