Wolverhampton drivers urged to keep car keys concealed

People in Wolverhampton are being urged to keep their car keys out of sight in their homes after an increase in reports of thefts from driveways.

Police have issued the warning.

Wolverhampton Police has issued the warning, advising people with vehicles to make sure they are safe an secure overnight.

Drivers are being asked to move their vehicle keys away from the front door or windows so that they can't be seen or taken by thieves.

Officers say that thieves can use 'wires and hooks to pick up keys from your letterbox.'

Tina Fallon, police, engagement and consultations officer for Wolverhampton Partnerships, said: "Please don't make it easy for thieves.

"Always keep your keys somewhere safe and out of sight

"Hide all keys, including car keys, out of sight and away from the letterbox - remember a device could be used to hook keys through the letterbox.

"Remove valuables from view of ground floor windows

"Thieves sometimes use wires and hooks to try and pick up your keys through the letterbox.

"Keep your keys away from doors and windows, and tucked away out of sight."
