It's an Express & Star love story! Couple went from paper boy and customer to husband and wife
A couple who first met by chance more than 60 years ago thanks to the Express & Star are celebrating their diamond wedding anniversary.
The inseparable Barbara and Keith Ward, of Sherringham Drive, Willenhall, have celebrated a jubilant 60 years together after first meeting while Keith was on his Express & Star delivery route when he was 14.
The happy couple began their love story in 1957 when Barbara's mother asked her to "pay the paper boy" – they quickly fell in love, and went on to tie the knot at Holy Trinity Church soon after.
Barbara Ward, 80, said: "Keith was our paper lad, I remember my mom saying 'can you go and pay the Express & Star paper boy', and I remember thinking 'ooooh, I like him', and it all started from there.
"We got engaged when I was 18 and Keith was 17 and got married when I was 20 and Keith was 19.
