Pedestrian hit by car in Walsall is seriously injured

A pedestrian has been treated for serious injuries and taken to hospital after a crash in Walsall.

West Midlands Ambulance Service was called to reports of a crash between a car and a pedestrian on Darlaston Road at 12.22pm and sent one ambulance and two paramedic officers.

The Midlands Air Ambulance Critical Care Car, with the crew from the Midlands Air Ambulance from Cosford also on board, also attended.

A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesman said: “On arrival we discovered one patient, a man, who had suffered serious injuries following a collision with a car.

“Following treatment at the scene, he was then transported to Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Birmingham, for further treatment.”

A spokesman for West Midlands Police said: "A man was seriously injured in a collision near the junction of Darlaston Road and Scarborough Road at around 12.20pm.

"The pedestrian suffered multiple fractures including two broken legs; he is in hospital for surgery.

"The driver of the car, a white Seat Ibiza, stopped at the scene and is helping with enquiries.

"Any witnesses or anyone who was in the area and has dashcam footage is asked to message us on Live Chat via the website or call 101 quoting log 1770 from 23 April."
