Work completed at St Paul's so far includes a new rest area for drivers, LED lighting upgrades, additional CCTV cameras, new cycling facilities, and improvements to customer areas including the removal of walls and installation of new seating, litter bins and flooring.

Transport for West Midlands (TfWM) plans to use new branding which was introduced on public transport across the West Midlands last summer, to give St Paul's a facelift.

Improvement work costing £680,000 has been underway to improve the station over the past few months.

Operations manager Andy Thrupp said: “We’re investing more than £3bn in public transport over the next 10 years to create closer connections between our communities, better connecting people to jobs, training, education and leisure pursuits.

“Work is currently underway at Walsall St Paul’s to create a brighter, more pleasant station for passengers. We’ve installed real-time information screens, new cycling facilities, LED lighting and we’re refurbishing the toilets.

“We’ll also be giving the station a facelift, using the new West Midlands transport branding to create a striking, recognisable station that the people of Walsall can be proud of.”

TfWM, part of the West Midlands Combined Authority (WMCA), is now looking to appoint a contractor to carry out painting and wrapping work for the new station designs.

And in the coming weeks, TfWM intends to complete real-time information screens, wayfinding throughout the station will be reviewed, along with looking into displaying train times alongside bus timetables, and the public toilet refurbishment – the toilets are closed at the moment, but will be refurbished and reopened in around three weeks. Signposting is in place to help passengers find alternative facilities.
