Man due in court over alleged criminal damage to war memorial

A man was due in court on Saturday morning after a war memorial was allegedly damaged.

At around 7pm on Thursday police received reports of damage being caused to the wreaths laid at the War Memorial on Victoria Square, Stafford.

On Friday, Staffordshire Police reported that Rikki Swift was arrested and charged over the alleged incident.

The 29-year-old, of no fixed abode, was denied bail and was due to appear in court on Saturday.
