Among the oil paintings at Cannock Library are Madonna, Marlene Dietrich, Pavarotti, as well as horses, still life, landscape and even the artist Dave Brevitt's own granddaughter.

The 71-year-old from Rugeley has more than 20 paintings on display which will be up for sale in the library until the end of the month.

The retired surveyor said he painted all the pieces of art last month which took around four hours each.

He added: "This is the third year I've exhibited my work in the library, and I normally get excellent feedback, I've already sold three portraits since they've been in the library.

"I do commissioned paintings and famous faces if I see a picture of them I like.

"Sometimes I'll paint something or someone which is topical if it's been in the news."

Earlier this year Dave won a competition to paint Black Country comic Doreen.
