Biker seriously injured in crash with car at busy junction

A motorcyclist has been left seriously injured after being involved in a crash with a car at a busy junction.

West Midlands Police has launched an appeal for witnesses to come forward after the collision happened at the junction of Wake Green Road and Yardley Wood Road in south Birmingham this morning.

The collision, between a blue Ford Galaxy and the motorbike, happened at 11.20am and saw the 30-year-old motorcyclist taken to hospital with serious head injuries.

The driver of the car stopped at the scene and is said to be helping West Midlands Police officers with their enquires.

Detective Sergeant Paul Hughes, from the serious collision investigation unit, said: "I’m appealing for anyone who may have seen what happened this morning to get in touch.

"This is a busy intersection and I know there were lots of people around at the time of the collision.

"A man has been taken to hospital with serious head injuries so we need to understand what happened."

West Midlands Police has asked for anyone who saw anything or has any dash-cam footage to get in touch through Live Chat on the West Midlands Police website.
