Officers sing for their carpool karaoke

While some of these Staffordshire beat bobbies can certainly hold a tune others should be arrested for crimes against singing.

Now Staffordshire Police will be sharing a clip on their social media channels every day this week of officers driving around the county and singing festive songs.

The first was released yesterday of police singing Wizzard's hit 1973 song I wish it could be Christmas Every Day and it has been viewed more than 31,000 times.

But aside from being a bit of fun the videos have a serious message behind them.

WATCH the police officers hit the high-notes

Superintendent Carl Ratcliffe, head of prevention and early intervention at Staffordshire Police, said: "At this time of year we know that there is a lot of advice and information surrounding crime prevention and your own personal safety and it can often feel like a lot to take in.

"By giving you the information in a fun and light-hearted way, we hope not to overwhelm our communities with too much information, but share important messages in a different way.

"All the officers were being filmed whilst on normal policing duty and able to respond to incidents like any other shift. Therefore I think this is a great opportunity for everyone to see policing in action in their local area too and be a fly on the wall."

Officers from across Staffordshire will be taking part and talking about their own experiences.

The idea came from the show by actor James Corden who invites A-list celebrities into his car for an interview and a sing along to popular songs.

He added: "Our officers won't stop working over the Christmas period as keeping you safe and reassured is a 24/7 job. However please remember to watch these videos and listen to the crime prevention advice, so that we keep the number of victims of crime to a minimum and ensure everyone has a happy and peaceful Christmas."

Filming took place over two weeks in late November and early this month.

Each police vehicle was set up with an interior dash cams before they set off on the road and recorded rolling footage of the officers.

The videos can be watched on their social media pages on Twitter at @StaffsPolice or on Facebook at @StaffordshirePolice.
