Jasneek Athwall sped over this bridge on the wrong side of the road before crashing into a car carrying a family

Two boys were left with ongoing physical and mental injuries due to the head-on crash on Lichfield Road, Wednesfield, on April 14, 2021.

Despite being a notorious accident black spot Jasneek Athwal, 22, was over the speed limit after consuming alcohol when she approached the bridge in the dark at 10pm.

Knowing the bridge was dangerous, the driver of the Ford S-Max heading the other way with his partner and two boys Jake and Noah in the back, was under the speed limit. All four were wearing seatbelts.

Athwal's Renault Clio was on the wrong side of the road and according to witnesses looked "out of control and speeding" when it crashed head on into the family's Ford S-Max car.

Both front seat airbags were deployed causing minor injuries to the adults but the boys - then aged 14 and nine - felt the full force of the impact with one left unconscious and another screaming in pain.
