Man charged with murder after pedestrian killed in Boxing Day crash

A man has been charged with murder after another man died after being hit by a car on Boxing Day.

Shkelzen Taka was found in Coton Road, Erdington, with serious head injuries after being hit by a car just before 6am. He sadly died shortly afterwards.

Tony Green, aged 26 from Suffield Grove, Erdington, will appear at Birmingham Magistrates Court this morning.

The family of 28-year-old Mr Taka have today paid tribute to him.

Their statement said: “Shkelzen was a much loved brother and partner and his family are devastated at his loss.

"The family ask that they be allowed to grieve in private and do not want to make any further comment.”

Detectives are continuing to appeal for information via live chat on the West Midlands Police website or call 101 quoting log number 688 of 26 December.
