Van torched on wasteland in Walsall

A transit van was set on fire on waste land in Walsall.

Firefighters and police were called to Cairn Drive, in Bentley, at 10.10pm yesterday.

A spokesman for West Midlands Fire Service said: "The incident involved a white transit van which was severely on fire on waste ground.

"We used one hose reel jet and we had two firefighters wearing breathing apparatus.

"The incident is believed to have been started deliberately so we requested the police.

"We left the scene at 10.45pm."

A spokeswoman for West Midlands Police said: "Firefighters alerted us to a suspected arson attack on a white Transit van in Cairn Drive, Bentley, Walsall at 10.25pm last night.
