The householders at the premises, in High Street, were alerted by a smoke detector which was triggered by fumes from melting cable shortly before 3.20am.

Shropshire Fire & Rescue Service said the fire was out when crews arrived at the scene.

It said there had been an "electrical defect" and added that an electrician was due to attend the residential address to replace cables.

Crews from Albrighton and Telford Central attended, along with an operations officer.

They used specialist tools to tackle the incident and left the scene at 3.57am.
