Wolves boss Nuno: Molineux factor can galvanise us against Liverpool

Nuno Espirito Santo believes the ‘Molineux factor’ can inspire his players tonight as Wolves look to end Liverpool’s unbeaten record.

A point against Jurgen Klopp’s table-toppers will lift Nuno’s team to sixth in the table, ahead of Manchester United.

But Wolves will fancy their chances of ending the last unbeaten record in English football this season.

Nuno believes a packed Molineux will give Wolves an advantage and that they ‘rely’ on their fans.

“I think it gives us more than two or three per cent,” Nuno said.

“The atmosphere when your energy is over, you hear the noise from the stands and it makes you run faster and more yards, I truly believe in that.

“When the team isn’t performing well and against the ropes we still have our fans backing us, it’s phenomenal and we really thank them for it.

“It is always important. It’s been there since last season. We rely on that.”

Wolves have taken points off Manchester City, Arsenal and Manchester United this season, while they recently came from behind to beat Chelsea 2-1. Nuno, though, insists their belief remains the same no matter who they’re playing.

“The confidence we have is that we compete the same against all the opponents,” he added.

“That doesn’t change. It’s not based on how you perform against those clubs that can make us better for tonight.

“We have to forget what we did in the past, focus on the present and the competition.

“It’s a new opponent and challenge. Tough, of course.

“It’s a big challenge for us, we’re prepared.

“Liverpool are a fantastic team with a fantastic manager – what a game.

“We’ll try to compete to the maximum of our efforts and belief, trying everything we can.”
