The return of Nouha Dicko - back as a substitute after more than a year out - couldn't inspire Walter Zenga's team to victory.

Cameron Jerome netted in the second minute and Robbie Brady fired in a 25-yard beauty 17 minutes from time for the high-flying visitors.

David Edwards pulled one back but Wolves couldn't muster an equaliser as they lost their fourth game from seven matches - and Norwich won at Molineux for the first time since 1995.

Analysis

Well you hope they weren't watching in China.

Wolves are hoping to negotiate an exclusive broadcasting deal to make their club big in Asia, a global force.

That may happen one day, but they won't have won many new fans from this performance.

On the day that both Steve Morgan and Jez Moxey watched on from the directors' box, this was a performance and result reminiscent of last season.

The first half in particular was a big let-down, with Walter Zenga failing to get the reaction he wanted from his players following the 2-1 midweek defeat at Wigan.

Wolves may have hoped to catch Norwich cold after their shock capitulation at Newcastle on Wednesday (Norwich were 3-2 up in the 94th minute but lost 4-3).

However the opposite was true when Cameron Jerome took advantage of slack defending, particularly from Danny Batth, to head home a second-minute opener.

The goal stunned the Molineux faithful and dampened the atmosphere. It was the second early goal conceded in successive games, and both were the result of poor defending.

The home fans may have been expecting a reaction - but for the rest of the half they certainly didn't get it.

Wolves played far too deep, inviting pressure, and were slow and sluggish in the tackle.

It also wasn't clear what formation they were playing. Their front three were disjointed, their midfield tentative, the defence hesitant.

Again they sorely lacked the presence of the injured Jon Dadi Bodvarsson. The ball either bounced off Ivan Cavaleiro, or he lost possession.

Inspired by Dicko's return - and the raucous atmosphere the home fans generated as a result - Wolves were much better going forward in the second half, particular during a 10-minute spell.

The best chance ironically fell to Dicko, whose script was written, but he couldn't complete the fairytale and fluffed his lines from six yards.

The spell was ended by a wonderstrike from Robbie Brady on 73 minutes, and thereafter the game appeared to be done.

A superb David Edwards header out of the blue made the final few minutes interesting, but Wolves couldn't muster an equaliser.

It's been a thrilling couple of months for Wolves, on and off the field, but after four defeats in seven (and two on the spin) things are going to start to get serious pretty quickly if the play-offs become far out of reach.

Key moments

2 - GOAL - Norwich take the lead inside two minutes. A cross from the left is met by Cameron Jerome who shrugs off the challenge of Danny Batth and heads past Ikeme.

11 - Helder Costa wins the ball back on the right flank, cuts inside and curls just wide. Great effort.

30 - More kamikaze defending from Wolves. Wes Hoolahan is afforded acres of space in the penalty spot - he could shoot but chooses to tee up Jacob Murphy and Ikeme saves from point blank range. Should be 2-0.

51 - Wolves start the second half with more purpose and Joao Teixeira takes Prince Oniangue's pass inside the box, checks back inside and sends a shot bobbling just wide.

61 - Nouha Dicko makes his Wolves comeback after one year and one month out injured.

67 - And Dicko should score with his first chance! The ball loops over the Norwich defence - David Edwards has beaten the offside trap, he plays to Cavaleiro whose cross is perfect, but Dicko's effort is blocked by keeper Michael McGovern. What an opportunity.

69 - It's all Wolves now. And the atmosphere has been cranked up by Dicko's return. A couple of Costa crosses are bundled clear, before the ball drops perfectly for Costa but he sends a rash shot over the bar from a tight angle.

73 - GOAL - What a sucker punch...but what a strike. Robbie Brady picks his spot from 25 yards - and that spot is the top corner. Even some Wolves fans can only applaud that.

80 - GOAL - From nowhere Wolves are back it in. Matt Doherty floats a cross to the back stick where Edwards gets great purchase on his header to beat McGovern from 10 yards. Game on.

Man of the match

David Edwards - popped up with his first goal of the season and won a succession of tackles in midfield.
