Wolves plot sensational return for Richard Stearman

Richard Stearman is set to sensationally rejoin Wolves, it can be revealed.

The defender - sold to Fulham for £2million almost exactly a year ago today - will return to Molineux on a season-long loan deal, it is believed.

The 29-year-old has fallen out of favour at Craven Cottage under Slovisa Jokanovic and with Wolves craving an experienced centre half they have moved to recapture the centre half.

Stearman was controversially sold on September 1 last year.

Almost 6,000 supporters voted in an Express & Star's online poll on the issue, with 82 per cent saying Stearman should not be sold.

Previous boss Kenny Jackett said Stearman had been sold for footballing reasons, despite the fact he had played every league game in 2015 up to that point.

A big-money deal for Monaco forward Ivan Cavaleiro remains in place and it's believed his signing on a permanent transfer will be announced on Wednesday.

If Stearman and Cavaleiro join Wolves it will take the number of players signed this summer up to 13.

Defensive midfielder Romain Saiss moved from French side Angers earlier on Tuesday for a fee of around £3m, signing a four-year contract.
