The 33-year-old is due to undergo a medical on Thursday ahead of signing an 18-month contract with the Baggies.

Snodgrass is set to join for a minimal fee with his contract at the London Stadium due to expire in the summer.

He has played just four minutes in three Premier League substitute appearances this season but Allardyce believes his experience and personality will boost Albion in their battle against relegation.

Allardyce is working on a number of short-term deals this month in a bid to reverse the fortunes of his team.

The Baggies have taken just one point from four matches since he replaced Slaven Bilic in the hotseat last month, suffering heavy defeats in home games against Villa, Leeds and Arsenal.

They currently sit 19th in the Premier League table, six points adrift of safety.

Leicester midfielder Hamza Choudhury is among the club’s loan targets while several players could depart in order to free up funds.
