Grady Diangana and Ahmed Hegazi fit again for West Brom

Head Coach Slaven Bilic has confirmed Grady Diangana and Ahmed Hegazi are fit having both recovered from hamstring injuries.

West Ham loanee Diangana suffered a recurrence of his hamstring problem against Charlton back in January – a knock which kept him out of the Baggies next 11 matches.

Hegazi, meanwhile, tweaked his hamstring against Wigan in February.

Just two games after that defeat to the Latics, football was suspended due to the coronavirus pandemic. And Bilic says it will be a boost having those players back when football does eventually return.

“We will benefit – every club will benefit because every club had a few injuries,” the boss said. “When it happened the players were more or less tired.

“It was the late stage of the season.

“Now most of the clubs, apart from the big, big, big injuries and surgeries, will have a full squad and we are going to benefit from that. Ahmed is feeling great. He is training. He was supposed to come back in a week anyway when this happened.

“It’s the same with Grady. I spoke to him. There isn’t going to be a big difference between him and the guys who played against Swansea.

“The break is long, it’s not two weeks, it’s long enough for all of them to be in the same position.

“It’s not that Grady didn’t play for a year. I expect we will not have to treat them any different to any of the other boys, they are going to be at the same level.”

It is not yet known in what format the 2019/20 campaign will resume with Albion potentially having to play their final nine matches in quick succession.

And Bilic says having everyone fit will help with that.

“Even though we are going to have a full squad for nine games it is still going to be a challenge,” he added. “It’s going to be a challenge.

“It depends on how often we are going to play.

“It can be a great thing if they put a schedule where you play every three days.

“But you need a big squad.”
