Charlie Austin says thanks to NHS

With the UK still in lockdown and doing everything it can to battle the coronavirus pandemic, Austin took to social media to post a video for employees of the Black Country NHS Foundation Trust.

The body offers a wide range of services including caring for adults with physical and mental disabilities.

Austin posted the video wearing a hat of Nintendo character Super Mario in the hope it would lift the spirits of people who are working around the clock to keep people safe.

He said: I want to say a big thank-you to everyone at the Black County NHS Foundation and all health and social care workers across the Black Country.

"What you are doing for everybody at the moment is amazing. I can't thank-you enough. Everybody in the area can't thank-you enough.

"Your support and your care is second to none.

"I know you are probably thinking you are going into work and one day is rolling into another. But I do hope your spirits are high and I hope this message brings you some joy.

"I can't be there to help you, a lot of people can't be there to help you but we are so reliant on you guys to pull everybody through. I can't say thank-you enough, people won't be able to say thank-you enough.

"Whether it is a round of applause, when we all went outside and clapped I know you are so appreciative.

"You are amazing people, every single one of you, and with your fighting spirit I know we can get through this.

"We are all in this together, everybody in the country knows that, and we are all driving behind you just like West Brom fans drive behind us every time we play.

"I know some of the rest of you support the other mob and you drive behind your team.

"We are right behind you. I know we can overcome this all together – I really do.

"You are an amazing group people and I know as a nation we have got this, with your help we are going to do this."

Austin took off his Mario hat to reveal he has shaved off his hair.

"What about my Mario hat by the way – I thought I would put this one just to try and get a couple of laughs, he added."

"Also West Brom fans – the wig has gone," he added.

"So from a bald Charlie Austin I just want to say keep up the good work, I know you have got this as one big team and I love you all."
