Bristol City's Lee Johnson set for ‘toughest game so far’

Bristol City boss Lee Johnson is expecting his side’s ‘toughest ask of the season’ when they travel to the Black Country tonight.

The Robins come into the game off the back of a 0-0 home draw against Nottingham Forest, while their last win came in the week before, a 1-0 victory over Cardiff.

They’re now unbeaten in five with their last loss a 3-0 drubbing away to Luton in mid-October.

City arrive at The Hawthorns as the top scorers in the league away from home, while the Baggies have drawn four of their eight home matches.

But Albion have lost one game all season and are undefeated at home and Johnson is expecting a stern test from Slaven Bilic’s side.

“You’d expect a group of players of that quality to be dangerous,” he said.

“They’ve had parachute payments and started off with a good Premier League squad.

“Last year they didn’t quite do it but this year with a couple of good additions – with the likes of Sawyers for example – and they look dangerous. It’s probably going to be our toughest ask of the season.

“Particularly as they’re top of the league after a good win [on Saturday].

“But we’ll go there and we’ll be energised and be fresh and look to give a good performance.”

The Robins face some injury concerns ahead of the clash – while others fight to be fit in time.

Centre-back Tomas Kalas is expected to be in contention but he’s still overcoming a knock.

While fellow defender Taylor Moore is a doubt.

“He (Kalas) has got a longstanding tendonitis issue – another by-product of international training regimes,” Johnson added.

“I think Kalas has got to be stronger – he played on the Sunday and trained fully on the Monday. Taylor Moore has had a scan on his knee – hopefully it’s not too bad. It could just be bone bruising. He’s getting swelling on the knee and when you get that at 22 I don’t want to risk it.”
