The Welsh international – who came off the bench to score the Baggies’ winning goal – was sent off after 83 minutes following an aerial challenge with Burnley’s former Villa defender Matthew Lowton.
Albion confirmed on their website they have contacted the Football Association to submit a claim of wrongful dismissal.
Should the club fail in their appeal, Robson-Kanu would miss at least three matches.
