The 37-year-old joined the Saddlers from Leyton Orient in 2011 and has gone onto make 284 appearances for the club.

Despite his age, Chambers has been a mainstay in Walsall’s squad since his arrival and featured 46 times last season while playing 56 games in the 2016/17 campaign.

And boss Jon Whitney is delighted he will be staying at the club for another two years.

“We’re pleased to extend Adam’s contract for another two seasons,” Whitney said.

“He has been a mainstay of our midfield for several years and his attitude, work ethic and fitness are an example to all of the other lads in the squad.

“It’s important to have Adam around as a role model for the youngsters. He’s an important part of the philosophy at the club.

“He’s disciplined, organised and resilient, and I’m sure he’ll push on over the course of the new season.

“He has come back to training fit and ready to go”

Chambers was part of the Walsall squad that reported for the first day of pre-season training on Tuesday.

And with his future now resolved the former Sheffield Wednesday man is looking forward to the new campaign.

“I’m delighted to be extending my stay at the club for another two years,” Chambers said.

“I’m looking forward to be getting back into pre season.

"It’s always tough pre season, but you know that the hard work you put in now will stand you in good stead for the season to come.”
