Just a few weeks ago, Karl Robsinson’s side were sat in the relegation zone having spent a large chunk of the campaign in the bottom four.

But a four-match unbeaten run, which includes three successive victories, has propelled The U’s up to 12th in the League One table.

Now it is Walsall who sit in the bottom four with just six games to play.

But Keates believes his side are capable of replicating Oxford’s form and climbing to safety.

“Oxford were below us a few weeks ago but they have kept going and had some good results,” the boss said.

“It shows you how tight the division is, a couple of decent results gets you up there. We can use them as an example.”
