King's Lynn Town 0 Stourbridge 1 - Report

Stourbridge produced the perfect away performance in a 1-0 victory at King’s Lynn – but boss Gary Hackett argued it could have been more convincing.

Aaron Forde’s stylish strike late in the first half proved decisive at The Walks, handing Hackett the perfect response to a 6-4 defeat at Coalville Town seven days earlier.

The Glassboys fought back with a dogged 1-1 derby draw with Halesowen Town in midweek with a more complete performance in Norfolk leaving the manager purring.

“We have had a good reaction to the Coalville match, working very hard and conceding just the one in the two games since,” said Hackett.

“It was a thoroughly-deserved 1-0 victory and a great shift from everyone out there.

“There are big expectations at King’s Lynn and we knew that if we could keep them quiet the fans would get on their backs. That was exactly how it turned out.

“You could see the frustration from the fans and players. They have a good squad but I know what it is like myself, when things aren’t going for you everything becomes more difficult.

“To be fair, though, we were very polished and crisp up front. It could have been more than the one.”

On Forde’s contribution, Hackett added: “For someone of Aaron’s ability he should probably score a few more.

“We let him off the leash and I must say, his goal was top drawer. There were three or four one-twos around the box and he finished emphatically.

“I am really pleased for him, too. He has arguably been our best player so far this season.”
