It took the home side and Premier Division Leaders just 13 minutes to open their tally, Connor Hampson finding the back of the net with a cross-shot from out on the flank.

And things went from bad to worse for the Glassboys just two minutes later when Altrincham doubled their advantage thanks to James Poole who collected a John Johnson pass before placing his shot beyond keeper Matt Gould.

The visitors struggled to create anything of note in a one-sided opening period and found themselves 3-0 down on 25 minutes with Pools netting his second of the game, turning the ball home at the far post from a Johnson cross.

The fourth came seven minutes before the break and it was the excellent Johnson who added his name to the scoresheet with a shot from 18 yards to punish some sloppy Stourbridge marking.

A power cut threatened to halt the rampant league leaders in their stride but the second half began and it was the visitors who had the better of things, pulling a goal back two minutes after the break when Luke Shearer slotted home.

But there was to be no thrilling fightback for Gary Hackett’s side who almost conceded again midway through the half when Jake Moult was just off target with a fine curling effort.
