Conor Hourihane: Jack Grealish 'too good' for Aston Villa

Conor Hourihane has conceded it is only a matter of time until Villa lose Jack Grealish after admitting: “He’s too good for us.”

Skipper Grealish has been a shining light as Villa have struggled during their first season back in the Premier League, scoring a career-high seven goals.

Manchester United are among the clubs who have been keenly monitoring the 24-year-old, who has also been touted for an England call-up.

Their admiration is shared by his Villa team-mates, with Hourihane describing Grealish as “easily” the best player he’s ever played with.

The midfielder told the Southern Star: “Jack has taken his game to a new level over the last two years, especially in the Premier League. He has taken it by storm.

“The England team and getting that big move is only a matter of time because, if I am being brutally honest, he is too good for our team.”

Villa are thought to value academy product Grealish at £80million but the ongoing coronavirus shutdown means the next transfer window promises to be at best an uncertain one.

Hourihane added: “He is a top, top class. In terms of pure ability and skill he is easily the best player I have played with.

“He just has that gift that he runs quickly with the ball. When he faces you up, you are in real trouble and he is just skipping by the best players in this league so, so easily.”
