LETTER: We are living in a greedy and dishonest world

A reader discusses David Cameron.

David Cameron making a statement

I wrote a letter a month or so ago questioning whether Dennis Skinner was correct in his assessment of David Cameron. Well the latest reports regarding this man seems to confirm that Dennis was quite correct in his appraisal of David Cameron.

David Cameron’s conduct gives us a reminder of the sort of people who run this country. It would be wrong and unfair to say all politicians have the same moral compass as Cameron but you would have to be insane to think he is the only person to behave that way. Our political society and the people who inhabit this society are people who generate a feeling of distrust in their behaviour. Too many times have we become aware of misconduct, too many times have these people been exposed as untrustworthy.

You can of course add to this group celebrities, footballers and others who tell us how wonderful they are giving up their time to support charities, but they do not tell us they are involved in schemes to lower their tax bill and as a result of this we have less money for hospitals and education. We are living in a world where greed and dishonesty is rife, a world where people use their power to make themselves richer, a world where people only care about themselves. David Cameron should be judged for what he is, but we must always be aware that he is only one man, there are thousands who act and think like him.
