Station bosses have said they will continue to use a new queueing system for Wolves match days for the rest of the season.

The new queuing system was put in place at Wolverhampton railway station for the first time after Wolves' home clash with Watford on Saturday.

A red metal barrier was erected down to the doors, with staff stopping fans going through into the station and police officers on hand.

Within ten or so minutes, fans were being allowed into the station to get on with their journeys but some still felt the new queuing system was causing issues.

Supporters were left disgruntled at being made to wait, with some chanting 'We are Wolverhampton and we want to go home'.

But Mel Bryett, station manager at Wolverhampton, said the trial worked well and they will continue to use it.

Ms Bryett said: "With Wolverhampton’s promotion, the number of fans travelling on matchdays has significantly increased.

“Due to major rebuilding work at Wolverhampton station, we have lost the use of the subway and have reduced space at the front of the station.

"The queuing system will be used to help passengers access the station, and to ensure that everyone can move around safely on busy platforms.

“The initial trial worked well for both customers and staff, and we intend to continue to use the new layout on matchdays for the rest of the season.”
