West Midlands Safari Park Twister ride will run as normal after boy injured in Yorkshire
A rollercoaster at West Midland Safari Park will continue to run as normal, bosses have confirmed, after a seven-year-old boy was seriously injured when he fell from a similar ride in Yorkshire.
The boy is in a critical condition in hospital after suffering head injuries when he was thrown from the Twister ride at Lightwater Valley, near Ripon.
A Twister is also operated at the safari park near Bewdley but bosses said today they were confident safety checks already in place were sufficient.
A West Midland Safari Park spokeswoman said: “The Twister ride is one of our most popular attractions and is inspected on a daily basis by our engineers. It is only operated by fully qualified members of our team and is also subject to a comprehensive annual inspection.
"We will continue to operate Twister as normal and are satisfied with the processes we have in place from a customer and attraction safety perspective.”
