Fire rips through derelict Foresters Arms pub

Two men have been led to safety after tackling a blaze at which ripped through a derelict pub in Wolverhampton.

Flames tore through the former Foresters Arms pub, in Birmingham Road, Blakenhall, this afternoon.

The fire quickly spread through the first and second floor of pub which started at around 1.50pm.

Twenty firefighters were brought in to tackle the blaze opposite a Ford dealership.

West Midlands Fire Service said crews had led two men to safety after the blaze.

Officials added the building had been deemed too dangerous for crews to enter.

West Midlands Ambulance Service said the two patients had received precautionary checks but neither required hospital treatment.

An aerial platform was brought to the scene to allow firefighters to quell the flames from above.

Parts of the roof may were being removed for crews to dampen down inside.
