The collision took place on the M6 northbound between Junction 8 for the M5 link and Junction 9 for Wednesbury.

Three lanes were closed off as traffic officers from Highways England and an ambulance crew worked on the scene of the accident, which happened around 4.22pm today.

Two passengers from the car were treated at the scene by a West Midlands Ambulance Service paramedic, but required no further treatment.

Crews working at the scene were able to move the car onto the hard shoulder and the motorway was fully reopened to traffic at 5.11pm.

A spokesman for Highways England said: "We were called to the scene of the crash at 4.22pm and found a car on its side after colliding with a HGV.
