Aldi and care home development to replace pub and pitch in Walsall get the red card
A bid to build a brand new Aldi store and care home on the site of a crumbling pub and former football ground in Walsall has been given the red card.
One food establishment across the Black Country and Staffordshire area has been given a one-out-of-five hygiene rating in the latest scores given out by the Food Standards Agency.

Walsall is historically part of Staffordshire but now forms part of the Black Country. Its heritage in saddle and leather making is remembered in the nickname of the town’s football club, Walsall, known as the Saddlers, and for handbags which are still a favourite of Queen Elizabeth. The Arboretum is one of the town’s main visitor attractions.
