Police step up patrols in Brownhills after complaints of anti-social behaviour

A number of businesses had raised concerns about the area

Police have stepped up patrols in Brownhills following complaints from business owners about persistent anti-social behaviour involving groups of young people.

Officers from the Brownhills neighbourhood policing team have been taking action following reports of incidents in Chester Road North and High Street.

A number of businesses have raised concerns about the behaviour, prompting police to increase their presence in the affected areas.

Officers say they have identified young people involved in anti-social behaviour and returned them home, while also visiting parents and guardians to address the concerns.

Anti-social behaviour warning letters and Acceptable Behaviour Contracts (ABCs) have also been issued, with police warning that breaches could be used as evidence in future prosecutions.

West Midlands Police said: "This kind of behaviour is unacceptable and once we've identified those involved [we've] immediately returned them home."

The force confirmed that regular patrols have been taking place in the hotspots and will continue in a bid to tackle further incidents.

The action comes as West Midlands Police launches its Mischief Fortnight campaign ahead of Halloween and Bonfire Night.

The initiative will see an increased police presence across neighbourhoods and around popular event locations in an effort to prevent crime and ensure residents can enjoy the celebrations safely.

Officers will carry out additional patrols throughout the busy period, with a particular focus on preventing anti-social behaviour and keeping communities safe.

Anyone wishing to report suspicious activity or anti-social behaviour can contact police on 101, or call 999 in an emergency.
