Man struck with metal pole in Stafford street attack

A man was struck with a metal pole as he walked down a Stafford street.

The 29-year-old was walking along Wolverhampton Road, in the Rising Brook area, at around 9.30pm on Sunday, February 23.

A car pulled up alongside him, while another man ran over and hit him repeatedly with a metal pole – causing injuries to his head and chest.

Staffordshire Police has now launched an investigation into the attack and is calling for witnesses to come forward.

A spokesman for the force said: "Detectives are appealing for witnesses after a man was struck with a metal pole in a Stafford street.

"The attacker is not believed to be known to the victim, who was walking between the Royal Oak pub and Esso petrol station at the time."

Anyone with information is asked to call Staffordshire Police on 101, quoting incident number 784 of February 23.
