Pensioner dies after being hit by car in Stafford

Police have launched an investigation after the pensioner was struck by a red Hyundai Matrix on Audmore Road, Gnosall, at around 11.40am on Saturday.

The victim, who was from the Gnosall area, was taken to Royal Stoke University Hospital but died a short time later as a result of her injuries.

Staffordshire Police said the woman's family were being supported by specially-trained officers.

Officers from the Staffordshire and West Midlands Serious Collision Investigation Unit are appealing for anyone who witnessed the incident or has dash-cam footage to come forward.
