The first baby who was born at New Cross Hospital, in Wolverhampton, was duly named Vincent Billy de Best, after arriving at 3.10am and weighing 9lb.

His proud parents are Joanne Greene and Christopher de Best, both from Hednesford.

Joanne said: “We could not praise the care and attention given to us more by the midwives in the induction unit and delivery unit.

“We have a very happy and content little bundle of joy.

“The kind gifts of a Santa outfit, personalised bauble and certificate made having to be in hospital on Christmas Day a little more bearable.”
